Submission Guidelines
All genres of writing are accepted and there is no word limit or page length requirement. Writing about experiences with illness are welcome, but pieces that are not about disabilities are encouraged as well. This is an open space for anyone to submit work that they feel expresses them and what it is like to live or be associated with a disability. Even if you are not impacted by a sickness, we still welcome your submissions. Raising awareness for disabilities through writing is encouraged by anybody and everybody!
Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but only unpublished work will be accepted. Published work does include work that has been published on a personal social media account. Please notify us if your work has been accepted somewhere else. Please do not send in pieces that include violence, hate speech, discrimination, or any other inappropriate content.
We accept work from writers ages 14-22 from anywhere in the world.

Authors' Rights
The author of pieces published on our website still keep their full rights to their work. DisLit Youth Literary Magazine will not take credit from the author for any works we have published. Writers can submit their pieces to other magazines after we have published the piece on our website. By submitting work, you are consenting for DisLit Youth Literary Magazine to publish your piece(s) on our website and potentially on our social media accounts. We reserve first electronic serial rights to your piece, but after we publish it, all rights go back to you (the author). We also may reformat your piece if needed, but we will not change any of the content written within it. If you choose to publish your piece somewhere else after DisLit publishes it, we ask that you acknowledge us as your piece’s first place of publication.
